Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts considers himself a fast healer and hopes that will help him get back on the field within the next couple of weeks after he was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a small crack in the talus bone of his left ankle.

Entering his 15th professional season, his 1st full season in the Red Sox organization. Has appeared in 669 ML games with NYY (2010-13), MIN (2014-16), SF (2016-17), and BOS (2017). Was orginally signed by the Yankees on 2/25/04 as an international free agent. In the majors, has made 230 starts at SS, 206 at 3B, 41 at 2B, 36 in the OF, and 29 at DH. Named a 2016 AL All-Star with the Twins...Also earned MIN's Heart & Hustle Award in 2016. Has played in the postseason 4 times with NYY (2011-12), MIN (2016), and BOS (2017). Hit .296 (358-for-1,208) from 2015-17, including .308 (271-for-879) against RHP. Has been successful in 129 of 164 career stolen base attempts (78.7%)... Hit .269 with four homers and 20 RBI in 50 games (46 starts) in a Giants uniform. 2016 All-Star was acquired by the Giants from the Twins on July 28 in exchange for minor league LHP Adalberto Mejia. Hit .269 (49-for-182) with 16 extra base hits and 13 stolen bases in 50 games with the Giants. Started 46 games with San Francisco (44 at third base and two at shortstop). His 40 stolen bases were the fifth-most in the Majors. Went 2-for-5 with two RBI and stolen a base in his first start with the Giants on July 30...since RBI became an official statistic in 1920, the only other players to drive in two runs and steal a base in their first start for the Giants are Johnny Vergez (1931 at Philadelphia) and Fran Healy (1971 vs. Cubs) (Elias). Suffered a hamstring strain on Sept. 25 at San Diego and missed the final week of the season. Hit .296 with 12 homers and 47 RBI in 91 games with the Twins.

Made Twins Opening Day roster, the fourth of his career and first with Minnesota....Hit safely in first five games, which set a season-high for hitting streak....Placed on 15-day disabled list May 5 with a left oblique strain; reinstated May 17. ...Hit .323 (21-for-65) with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI in first 23 games, through June 17....
